The Toronto International Film Festival
Tonight was the opening of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). In front of the opening screening at Toronto's Roy Thompson Hall and at after party events around the city where they could be seen entering the darkened interiors of chic gatherings, the entertainment world's most luminous celebrities graciously paused to pose for photographers. A number of outdoor public events also marked the occasion. One of these was the concert by DJ Champion held in Dundas Square.

Outdoor Art Show at the Distillery

Samba School Outside Guvernment Nightclub
Passing the Guvernment nightclub on my way home from the Harbourfront I was stunned to see what looked like a miniature Brazilian carnival on display for the large group of party goers headed into the nightclub.

New Orleans is the home of a lot of very spicy cooking, so it was fitting that Irma Thomas the soul queen of New Orleans was invited to perform at the Toronto Harbourfront centre's Hot + Spicy Food Festival.

The Cabbagetown Youth Centre Lives to See a Dream Coming
A pleasant revelation awaited me when I stopped in to the Cabbagetown Youth Cenre (formerly known as the Cabbagetown Boxing and Youth Centre) to say hi. It's been years since I passed by the gym but one of the many memories I have is this promise that such change would one day come.
